Ranikhet - A must visit place in Uttarakhand!

Ranikhet, or Queen’s meadow lies in the beautiful state of Uttarakhand in the north-western part of India. Known for its beauty, hilly terrain and majestic views of the snow clad mountains it is a place worth visiting, and visiting many times over. In the month of November, year 2016 we visited this beautiful paradise on earth.

Bhimtal lake.

The place where we stayed: One of the cottage in Vimoksha Valley Resort.

Other cottages in Vimoksha Valley property.

Two-day visit was too short, but a very refreshing one. We stayed at Majhkali, a little distance from Ranikhet at the Vimoksha Valley Cottages. The cottages are well maintained and the staff is very helpful and cooperative.

Breathtaking view of Himalayas from our cottage. The Trishul range consisting of 3 peaks could be seen from here.

The beautiful view of the Trishul peaks from the cottages is breathtaking and mesmerizing. It gets quite chilly in November, but there is abundant sunshine during the day. At the night time mostly clear skies open up almost the magical roof of the world to a vast array of stars. You can see the milky way river if you can bear the chill and stay a little longer in the night.

Golf course. Maintained by the Army.

A church converted in to a shawl weaving factory. The old structure of the church is retained.

Workers in action inside the shawl factory.

We bumped into this cafe on the way to our cottage and was mesmerized by it's beauty that we again visited the next day for a quick coffee and their special banana cake before leaving for Delhi. Rooster design was predominant in their interiors and table napkins and other stuffs which we found very interesting. They also had home-stay arrangements.
The cafe

The balcony seats of the cafe. We had a lovely time enjoying the coffee and the excellent view outside.
